In accordance with Texas Administrative Code (TAC), Title 26, Part 1, Chapter 558, initial administrator training and annual continuing education are required to ensure that Administrators and Alternate Administrators meet all regulatory standards.
Initial Training Requirements:
First-Time Administrators and Alternate Administrators (designated after Dec. 1, 2006):
Must complete 24 clock hours of educational training in the administration of an agency within the first 12 months after designation.
- Prior to Designation:
Must complete eight clock hours of educational training in the administration of an agency during the 12 months immediately preceding the date of designation to the position. - After Designation:
Must complete an additional 16 clock hours of educational training before the end of the first 12 months after designation to the position. These additional hours can be completed prior to designation if done within the 12 months immediately preceding the designation.
Continuing Education Requirements:
a. After completing the initial 24 hours of educational training, administrators and alternate administrators must fulfill the continuing education requirements by completing 12 clock hours of continuing education within each 12-month period beginning with the date of designation.
