ONGOING TRAINING/ CONTINUED EDUCATION MANAGEMENT
By 2050, nearly 14 million older Americans will be living with Alzheimer’s disease, the most common form of dementia—up from 5.8 million in 2019.
Direct care workers are a critical component of the dementia care workforce, providing various levels of assistance to patients suffering from dementia.
Dementia-specific training is essential for preparing direct care workers to appropriately interpret and address the needs of individuals with dementia, who often experience an increased need for assistance with activities of daily living, impaired communication, disorientation, confusion, and/or behavior changes.
Dementia training has also been shown to improve job satisfaction and reduce stress among direct care workers, stabilizing the care environment and improving care outcomes.
Amity Healthcare Group offers easily accessible, specialized dementia training courses for direct care workers seeking to develop an enhanced understanding of the disease. Our training will allow direct care workers to gain the following:
Effective care management, behavioral, and communication techniques necessary to effectively deliver care to individuals impacted by dementia.
Ability to focus on individualized care and a safe environment for workers and consumers in the home setting.
This program is being funded by the Department of Health Care Policy & Financing through an ARPA HCBS Training Grant. For more information, please visit this link.
